A double from super sub Josh Peters maintained Buckie Thistle's 100 per cent record in Wednesday's Moray derby clash with Forres Mechanics.

Jags had won their opening three matches while Forres had picked up full points from their first two, so something had to give in the battle of the two remaining perfect records.

Forres made a glorious start when on-loan Elgin City striker Dylan Lawrence fired them ahead after just two minutes.

The resilient Cans stood up to Jags pressure until the 64th minute when sub Peters levelled, and within ten minutes the former Elgin front man had put the home side in front.

Max Barry added a third to push the Victoria Park men three points clear at the top of the league.

Formartine United and Brora stayed within touching distance with midweek wins.

Formartine had to dig deep for the three points at Inverurie Locos in a tale of three penalty kicks.

Matthew McLean gave United an early lead before Paul Campbell saw his spot kick saved by Locos keeper Andy Reid.

It remained 1-0 until the closing 15 minutes when Locos were awarded a penalty and Calum Dingwall levelled from the spot.

That looked like earning a first point of the campaign for Locos until ref Owen Lawrence pointed to the spot for a third time, again i Formartine's favour.

This time Jonny Crawford stepped up to take the kick and scored what proved to be an 88th minute winner for the visitors.

An Andy Macrae double and a Max Ewan goal earned Brora a 3-1 success over Strathspey, who replied through Jack Davison.

Rothes got their first win, posting a 2-0 success at Nairn County.

Huntly edged out Lossiemouth 2-1 at Christie Park to continue their good league start.

Goals by Michael Clark and Robbie Foster either side of the break put the home team in command.

Dean Stewart's second goal of the season late on pulled one back but Lossie slipped to their fourth loss in a very tough start on the fixtures front for the Coasters.

A 16th minute Ewan Clark goal took Turriff United back to winning ways and handed hosts Deveronvale their first defeat of the season.

Wick Academy grabbed their first win with a late burst of scoring at home to Clach.

The game was goalless until the closing 12 minutes when veteran Richard Macadie broke the deadlock for the Scorries and recent signing Ross Gunn added two more to earn a fine 3-0 victory.
