Steven MacDonald's side travelled to face last season's finalists Banks O' Dee in Aberdeen and returned to Moray with a superb 4-2 victory.

Caley Thistle loan striker Ethan Cairns fired Forres ahead on 17 minutes and Craig MacKenxie added a second before Michael Philipson pulled one back.

Captain Lee Fraser's third of the season from centre back put Cans 3-1 up right on half time.

Jack Grant sealed Mechanics progress with his first of the season and Lachie Macleod netted a late consolation for Dee.

The quarter-final draw was made after the match and paired Forres with a trip to Brora Rangers on September 9.

Brora thrashed Clach 6-0 thanks to a Paul Brindle hat-trick, a debut goal for ex-Buckie Thistle man Kyle MacLeod and two late strikes by Jordan MacRae.

Keith progressed to the last eight with a hard-fought 3-2 success at home to Nairn County.

Jordan Cooper's first goal for the Maroons opened the scoring at Kynoch Park on ten minutes but Fraser Dingwall quickly levelled.

Captain James Brownie headed Keith back in front, Andrew MacLeod equalised on 63 minutes and Joey Wilson plundered the home winner on 76 minutes.

Keith are now at home to Buckie Thistle, who beat Turriff United 4-0 with goals by Darryl McHardy, Marcus Goodall, Josh Peters and an own goal.

Deveronvale took on Fraserburgh for the second weekend running but endured a nightmare in Banff.

Broch squeezed out a narrow 3-2 win in the league at Bellslea Park but the outcome was very different at Proncess Royal Park woth the Buchan men scoring nine unanswered goals.

Former Vale loan man Zane Laird opened Broch's account early on and Sean Butcher, Bryan Hay and Scott Barbour had the visitors 4-0 up inside half an hour.

Barbour added two more after the break, Butcher got one and Josh Bolton and Ryan Sargent - another former Vale loanee - made it a miserable day for Craig Stewart's side.

Fraserburgh are now in the quarters where they play Strathspey Thistle, 1-0 winners at Lossiemouth thanks to Owen Paterson's late penalty.

Rothes also slipped out of the tournament, going down 3-2 at home to Inverurie Locos.

Locos put their miserable league form to one side by scoring twice in the opening quarter hour at MacKessack Park through Callum Duncan and skipper Greg Mitchell.

Things were looking up for the Speysiders when Greg Morrison pulled one back on 23 minutes and two minutes later, Locos had Nathan Meres sent off for retaliation.

Rothes couldn't find an equaliser and were stung late on when the ten men of Locos scored a third through Mitchell again.

Liam McDade netted a second for Rothes in time added on but the visitors held on to book a quarter-final date at Brechin City.

The champions came from behind to defeat hosts Formartine United 3-1.

Ex-Brechin man Julian Wade put United ahead inside ten minutes but the Taysiders hit back through Liam Duell and Stuart Heenan both netting first goals for the club.

Brechin had sub Ewan White sent off early in the second hald and United's Graeme Rodger was red-carded two minutes later, with sub Marc Scott sealing Brechin's success just before the end.
