Tyler Sked, Nathan Greene and Marcus McEwan all battled their way through to the finals of their weight division at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre in Motherwell.

All competing in the Junior 2008 category for 15 and 16-year-olds, the Moray trio did their club proud.

Both Sked and McEwan were crowned Scottish champions, while Greene had to settle for silver after losing to vastly more experienced opponent.

The two winning boxers have now been invited to attend a Boxing Scotland performance assessment held by top coaches involved in the international selection process.

Sked firstly had to take on Cooper Yuille from Jonesy's Boxing Club in Stirlingshire in the semi-finals of the 50kg division.

His victory earned a place in the final against Cloverfield rival Kieran Wylie, and Sked was thrilled to earn the decision of the judges and lift the Scottish title.

Sked has also won Scottish titles at novice and intermediate level.

McEwan was involved in a straight final in the 75kg division against Granite City's Laju Rowaniyor, a boxer with seven straight victories, many by stoppage, from Granite City, Aberdeen.

The Forres Academy pupil won the Golden Gloves title at the first attempt last year, and is a Scottish novice champion who competed for Scotland at last year's tri-nations tournament - his first international selection.

The Kintessack-based boxer was coming off the back of three narrow defeats so was eager to put in an impressive performance.

From the first bell, his jab was finding the target and stopping his shorter opponent in his tracks.

His opponent did have some success of his own with a big rear hand but the first round was definitely the Elgin boxer's.

In the second round, he continued to use his reach and experience along with fast four punches combinations finished the round strong.

The third round saw the Granite City boxer land more hooks and rear hands but McEwan managed to outwork him and was declared the winner on a unanimous decision.

Buckie High pupil Greene was hoping to add to his Scottish intermediate 57kg title which he won earlier this year.

He took care of Forgewood BC opponent Aiden Gallagher in his semi-final, but Greene's challenge in the final was on a different level.

With just nine competitive fights under his belt, the Elgin ABC boxer faced Sparta Boxing Academy star Thomas O'Riley, who had more than 50 bouts to his name.

Greene had to settle for the silver medal despite a fine performance.
