After an even start, home skip Tam Stewart gained all the momentum winning the last six ends en-route to a comprehensive victory.

Stewart would be the first to admit that team-mate William Gallagher (Gally) playing superb lead bowls was instrumental in their victory.

William Stewart and Graeme Taylor tied their match 11 apiece. Home skips George Jack and Mark Thompson continued their good form in the second session to guarantee maximum points for the coastal club.

Second-placed Lhanbryde entertained bottom club Fogwatt and made a nervy start but soon found their form with Andrew Furr winning eight consecutive ends and supported by Neil Roger built up a significant first session advantage.

There was to be no let-up in the second session from home skips Robert Wildgoose and Neil Ogilvie as they kept the pressure on the leaders with another six points.

Burghead hosted Hopeman in the coastal derby with the away club thanks to skips Euan Main and James Morrison both winning the crucial ends to build up an eight-shot advantage.

Ryan Gordon reduced the deficit to six shots, winning 12-10 while John Ross played superbly in the first five ends leading 13-0, going on to win 16 shots to 5 to complete the turnaround and gain four points and third place in the league for the Broch.

Fochabers travelled to Moray Bowling Club with the Elgin club skips Ralph Smith and Aaron Robb winning 18-8 and 14-5.

Fochabers responded in the second session, Bill Petrie winning 13-8 to secure a valuable two points for the village club with Moray claiming four points.

In the second division, Forres Royal British Legion returned to winning ways despite a spirited effort from visitors Birnie who won one match and tied a second.

Strong performances from Ian McArthur and Neil Mathers puts the Legion within touching distance of the title.

Forres Victoria followed up last week’s success against the leaders, this time on the road to Hopeman A.

Brian Caldwell, Paul Coutts, and Harry Sutherland all playing superbly in winning their matches to gain a maximum six points for the Forres club.

Duffus cemented second place in the league with another fine performance away to Lossie BC A.

Lossie took the first session and two points, but Davy Clarihew put in another strong performance to secure four points for the visitors.
