First weekend of league games for north-east welfare teams

Teams in the North East Scotland Football Association's welfare leagues have been in action over the weekend.
In Deejays Nightclub League 1 Banff Rovers welcomed Strichen side Mormond Thistle to Canal Park on Saturday.
An even first half saw both teams have chances at goal but neither team found the net to take the lead.
Rovers had the early pressure in the second half but again could not capitalise on their opportunities.
It was Thistle that took the lead when a ball was crossed in and the away attacker scored. They extended their lead shortly after to make it 2-0.
Rovers got back into the game when the Thistle defence failed to deal with a loose ball and the home side scored to reduce the deficit.
Good play from Rovers saw the ball reach Kevin Sopel and he fired a long range shot at goal but it hit the crossbar.
Thistle made it 3-1 from a counter attack when the ball hit the woodwork and crossed the line.
The away team added to their lead when the ball fell to Fraser Davidson and he got his second goal of the game, which finished 4-1.
