Ellon United found themselves at home to Colony Park on Saturday in what was always going to be a closely contested match.

A first half with chances at both ends of the pitch, but none taken looked like the home side would be going in at half time with no scoring but five minutes before the interval Ellon’s leading scorer James Bain grabbed the lead with a well taken goal.

A couple of minutes later Ellon found themselves 2-0 up at half-tome with a goal from Lenny Johnson.

A keenly contested second half in which both teams again had chances to score saw no further goals were added for a home side win.

The game saw the debut as a substitute for Ellon of 21-year-old midfield player Stuart Smith who is on a contract until 2025.

Stuart has previous Junior football experience in the North Region having represented Stonehaven FC, Culter FC and Aberdeen University FC.

"Stuart’s arrival will only enhance the ability within our group and I am looking forward to playing a part in Stuart’s development over the coming years”.

Ellon's next match is a NRJFA Premier League fixture against Dyce Football Club at The Meadows, Ellon, scheduled for Saturday 11 with a kick-off of 1.30pm.
