From the first whistle it was the home side Ellon United who started the better team on Saturday with lots of good attacking play which resulted in the opening goal scored by Dean McDonald after a defensive mix up.

As the half progressed it only ever looked likely that Ellon Utd would increase their lead and that's exactly what they did from a corner kick.

Ball beautifully delivered from from the right hand side which was beautifully met by Calum Irvine with a powerful header.

The remainder of the first half followed in the same vein but no further scoring leaving it Ellon Utd 2-0 Sunnybank.

The second half was a different affair with the away side dominating play and looking more likely to score.

Half way through the second half that resulted in Sunnybank pulling a goal back from a deflected shot.

The remainder of the half saw Ellon under most of the pressure but they held out to secure a great three points to start the year.

Final score - Ellon Utd 2-1 Sunnybank.
