The pair have been strongly linked with the managerial vacancy at Elgin City, with a Borough Briggs announcement expected tomorrow.

Hale (35) has been in charge at Highland League Huntly since the summer of 2020, having previously managed Keith.

He led the Christie Park side to a strong start this season, at one point leading the Highland League table and only missing out on a Scottish Cup victory over League 2 Forfar Athletic due to a stoppage time equaliser.

His number two Laird (34) was previous manager of Aberdeen women's football team.

Huntly FC announced on their Facebook page: "Our Management Team of Allan Hale and Stefan Laird have both submitted their resignation from their positions at the club with immediate effect.

"We wish to thank Allan and Stefan for all their efforts over the last three-and-a-half years and to wish them all the best for the future."

Current club coach Colin Charlesworth, who this week announced his retirement from playing, will take over from Hale as caretaker manager at Huntly, assisted by Zander Jack and Alex Thoirs.
