A BRAVE display was not enough to keep the Scottish Cup dream alive for Buckie Ladies.

Dunfermline Athletic stood in the way of the home side progressing from the prelim round but it was not to be as the Fifers ran out 4-0 victors.

Despite a strong first half performance from Buckie, which saw them create a host of chances, they went in trailing 1-0.

After the break their opponents' experience began to tell and Dunfermline clinched a spot in the next round with three clinical strikes.

Buckie manager Laura Duncan paid tribute to the efforts of her team.

She said: "We played really well and had plenty of chances but just didn't take them whereas Dunfermline did.

"We certainly did not make things easy for Dunfermline who are currently top of their league."

Buckie have no game this Sunday – they were originally scheduled to play Ross & Cromarty Women – but will have a huge tie the following Sunday when they seek to retain their Highland League Cup crown against Caithness.

The match is scheduled to get under way at Nairn FC's Station Park ground, kick-off 2pm.
