Duff House duo secure club’s first Simmers success

TWO Duff House Royal golfers have won the prestigious Simmers Trophy – a first for the Banff club.

David Morrison, from Macduff, and Sam Griffiths, from Fordyce, won the North-east district tournament at Cruden Bay by one point from second-placed Murcar Golf Club.

The format of the competition was foursomes played over 18 holes, and the Duff House team won with a score of 72.

Morrison said: “We both played well, hitting some really nice iron shots and plotting our way round the links course.

“There are a lot of blind tee shots and shots to the green, so it requires a lot of positional play rather than being aggressive.
