POOR decision-making and a lack of a cutting edge in front of goal are costing Deveronvale dear at the moment, insists boss Craig Stewart.

His side slumped to a third straight Highland League defeat 4-1 at Mosset Park last Saturday.

After a bright start to the game, the visitors conceded three quick goals before half-time.

And although an Innes McKay goal briefly gave them hope early in the second half, that was snuffed out with a late fourth for Forres Mechanics.

’Vale have managed just one goal in the last three games as they have crashed to Forres, Rothes and Banks o’ Dee.

And Stewart said his young team have to collectively make better decisions in crucial areas.

“I thought for the first 25 minutes on Saturday we were much the better team but when we are on top we are not taking our chances.

“We are not making the best of positions we are in, in the final third. Not getting our noses in front is really costing us.

“We lost a slack goal and then collapsed for a 10-15 minute spell.

“In the second half I thought we were pretty dominant and gave ourselves a chance when we scored, but we conceded another soft goal from a corner.

Asked about the lack of goals, Stewart admitted: “it is a concern but it is not for the lack of creating chances. We are just not clinical enough.”

Deveronvale have slipped to 16th in the Breedon Highland League table, a point behind Clach who visit Princess Royal Park on Saturday.
