Buckie Thistle and Deveronvale might be sick of the sight of each other when they meet four times in the space of just over seven weeks.

The coastal foes clash in the first round of the Highland League Cup on Saturday in Banff, with a swift rematch the following Wednesday in the Aberdeenshire Shield.

Jags and Vale then meet in a festive league double header on December 23 in Banff and Buckie 11 days later.

Buckie manager Graeme Stewart isn’t a big fan of double header clashes from past experiences.

“I remember a few years ago when I think we put seven past Inverurie in the cup and we drew with them in the league a week later,” he said.

“Teams learn from this and get to know you, and look to stop these things happening in the next game because it is so soon after the first game.”

Stewart hinted that he will use the full depth of his squad for the two Vale cup ties.

“We will look to mix it up because after these two Deveronvale games, we have Fraserburgh away on the Saturday.

“I’ve already got my two teams in my head if everything goes to plan.”
