Day to forget for Garioch bowlers against West Lothian
Garioch Bowling Club struggled against a strong West Lothian team, writes Mike Barron.
From the start the Garioch team found the scoring hard after three ends and from then on West Lothian scored regularly showing their class and drawing ability.
Gary Macdonald was lead to James McDougall (skip). Bruce Stewart and Lee Mair made up the rink and they were beaten comprehensively 10-33 despite playing well.
Lee Collins (skip) against Neil Speirs, a former regular under 25 internationalist, had a good fight but lost 15-23.
Liam Beattie, James Harbertson, Kevin Harper and Jason Banks did not play badly. They found James Speirs just better and lost 8-27.
The final rink, skipped by Brian Reid, also found it very difficult and lost to Allison 11-23.
The final score was West Lothian Gents 106, Garioch Gents 44.
Gary MacDonald said: “We were up against a very strong team who have experience at the highest level and it showed. We did not play badly they were just better.”
Garioch are at home this Saturday when they play Falkirk who are top of the Premier League after defeating Abbeyview and Elgin.
