NEW Huntly manager Charlie Charlesworth plans to strike a balance between experience in youth to plot a bright future for the Christie Park club.
The former Lossiemouth and Deveronvale boss was appointed on Tuesday as successor to former management duo Tommy Wilson and Andy Roddie, who parted company with Huntly last week.
Charlesworth joins his son Martin, the club striker who has been handed a player coach role along with team captain Gary McGowan to support the new man in charge.
The new boss said: "I'm really pleased. There's exciting times ahead. "I know the remit, Huntly want to introduce a bit more youth over a period of time and I have to be careful with that balance so that we maintain seniority and position as best we can and push on.
"But we will look to blend it with youth and apparently there is a really good youth system with some really good players coming through."
Charlesworth was the first choice of the Huntly board, and chairman George Clark made an approach to bring him in earlier this week. He had been working as assistant manager at junior side Dufftown since leaving his last job at Lossie.
"Huntly have had a tremendous season and hats off to Tommy and Andy for the work they've done up to this point. The club is in a good place now so it is up to me just to continue things and make sure the longevity is put into the club."
Charlesworth will work with his player coaches and youth coach Chris Baird is being touted as a possibility to step up to the role of his assistant. The new manager travelled through to Aberdeen last night to meet his squad of players and prepare for the next match.
Huntly are due to play host to Strathspey on Saturday, though heavy rain ruled out the Black and Golds' home league game against Lossie last weekend.
They are also scheduled to meet Formartine at home in the first round of the Aberdeenshire Shield on Wednesday night.
