Winning start for Division 1 champions Lossiemouth Bowling Club in Alexander Wallace (Toyota) Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association League
The champions are off to a winning start in the Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association Alexander Wallace (Toyota) League.
Division 1 holders Lossie Bowling Club dominated their opening fixture against Alves.
Mark Thomson and Tam Stewart both started superbly and went on to record convincing wins to give the hosts a commanding lead going into the second session.
William Stewart along with George Jack increased the advantage at the midpoint in the second session with little response from the visitors as the champions secured all six points.
In the coastal derby, Hopeman A hosted Burghead in what turned out to be a close encounter.
Hopeman won both first session matches to lead by 12 shots, and it looked like victory would go to the host club as they led by 20 shots heading into the later stages.
Both Burghead skips rallied late scoring 23 shots including a six at the last end to claim overall victory by three shots.
Newly-promoted Forres Royal British Legion went on the road to Moray Bowling Club where the Elgin club were dominant throughout with George Robb jnr being their standout performer to help Moray claimed top spot after week one.
Fochabers hosted Bishopmill, who made their return to the association this season.
Keith Lambert made a strong start for the home team en route to a 19-11 victory. The hosts went on to win all four matches and claim a maximum six points.
The second division produced some close matches. Andrew Furr gave Lhanbryde the early imitative winning 14-4 on the road at Hopeman B. Neil Roger edged his match by one shot and Neil Ogilvie and Robert Wildgoose secured a clean sweep for the away team.
Birnie won both first session games away to Duffus to take an eight-shot advantage into the second session. Charlie Stewart increased Birnie’s advantage winning 15-6. Rob Stenton turned the match around winning 23-4 to secure home victory and four points for the village club.
Only two shots separated the teams after the first three games in the Lossiemouth derby. Experienced skip Kevin Donaldson won his match 16-10 to clinch overall victory and claim bragging rights for the school.
