STRIKER John Mcleod has returned to Buckie Thistle on a deal until the end of the season after three years out of football due to injury.

The 35-year-old had a short spell with Inverness Athletic and pulled on a Jags shirt again for Darryl McHardy's testimonial match at Borough Briggs at the end of August.

He has also played a few games for Buckie's under-21s as he aims to regain the sharpness that saw him score scores of goals as Buckie last won the Highland League.

Jags boss Graeme Stewart told the club's Facebook page: "John has worked hard to get fit again. He has played three games for our under 21s and has looked good during those games.

"We will need to take our time with him after such a long period out injured, so he has signed until the end of the season to see how he gets on.

"He will bring further depth to our squad and more options in forward areas."

Buckie Thistle travel to Tayport tomorrow to take on the junior side in the first round of the Scottish Cup.
