Jags six-year wait for silverware goes on despite holding the upper hand in the second half of Wednesday's final.

Fraserburgh had 16-year-old Sam Inglis in goal with regular Joe Barbour out injured.

The Buchan side had slightly the better of the opening 20 minutes without creating too much in the way of openings.

Andy MacAskill cut across and fired over for Jags, while at the other end Scott Barbour jinked inside the box but his low cross had no takers.

It was Barbour who opened the scoring for Fraserburgh on 25 minutes with a deflected effort on the turn after Jags keeper Lee Herbert had beaten away a Ryan Sargent ball.

Jags responded well with Cohen Ramsay and Josh Peters both having netbound efforts deflected wide for corners.

Max Barry was next to have a crack for Buckie but his effort was also blocked up in the air before Inglis gathered.

Peters was inches away with a volley on the turn to continue Jags good spell before half time, and the striker then set up Barry whose effort on the slide on the edge of the six yard box was well defended by the Broch.

Into the second half, Ramsay skied a Barry cross at the back post as Buckie looked for a quick equaliser.

Then a MacAskill effort was deflected but failed to deceive the young Fraserburgh keeper.

It took a fine save by Buckie keeper Herbert to deny Fraserburgh’s Connor Wood when he connected with a low Sargent cross from the left on 56 minutes.

Jags were unlucky not to level on the hour when Scott Adams’ miscued strike on goal skidded beyond Inglis but rebounded off the left hand post.

Buckie boss Graeme Stewart brought on Sam Urquhart for Adams on 62 minutes and the sub’s first action of the game created his team’s equalising goal.

Urquhart met a MacAskill free kick from the left corner of the box and it fell kindly for Sam Pugh to crash home from close range.

Buckie were on top at this stage but survived a near miss on 70 minutes when Broch centre back Kieran Simpson glanced a Ryan Cowie corner just wide from inside the six yarder.

MacAskill fired over and Ramsay had a header saved as Buckie chased a winner, but the decisive goal came at the other end with just two minutes to go.

Ross Aitken raided down the right and played in a cross for Fraserburgh sub Sean Butcher, whose header squirmed under Herbert and found the net.

Still there was time for a Buckie chance as Kyle MacLeod, thrown on as a last minute sub, headed down for Urquhart who dragged wide with the target at his mercy.

Buckie boss Graeme Stewart was then yellow carded for dissent.

Fraserburgh held on for victory and skipper Willie West went up to to lift the trophy.
