THE double double is still very much on for Buckie Ladies as they marched past Nairn into the final of the Highlands and Islands League Cup.

While the hosts were unable to repeat their 11-1 drubbing of Nairn the previous week, a 4-0 victory was more than enough to set holders on their way to meet Caithness in the final in September.

On-form Lori Lappin found the net yet again, with a goal from Olivia Wood giving Buckie a 2-0 half time lead. Strikes from Alena Gardiner and Skye Milne rounded off the afternoon.

It was a case of 'job done' for left back Rebecca McMillan and her team-mates.

She said: "We're delighted to be in the final again for the second year in a row.

"The score pretty much did us justice.

"It wasn't the best we've played all season – we could've done a lot better, to be honest – but at the end of the day we got through, and that's all that matters.

"We've got a while until the final but we'll be looking forward to it."

The game marked the beginning of the summer break, with champions Buckie once again again sitting on top of the league on maximum points.

McMillan said: "We're where we hoped we'd be in the league but it's not the sort of thing you take for granted.

"The win up in Orkney was a vital one and it settled us, I think.

"Our last league game is against Orkney at home and that could be a title decider.

"It's in our own hands now, the league's ours to win or lose and that's the place you want to be in."
