Buckie Thistle manager Graeme Stewart said Joe McCabe's red card in Saturday's cup defeat to Banks O' Dee was "not a sending off" - and he was technically correct.

For referee Gordon Seago's decision to dismiss the Jags right back in the Highland League Cup semi-finals has been changed to a yellow card following a successful Buckie appeal.

Jags missed out on making the final for the third consecutive season when they were defeated on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Victoria Park, having played three-quarters of the tie with only ten men.

McCabe slid in on a tackle in the middle of the park which the Banks O' Dee player appeared to hurdle, and Stewart maintained there has been no contact.

The Buckie boss feels it was the reaction of the Dee players and their bench that persuaded Seago to brandish the red card.

Now McCabe has been cleared of suspension, he will be available to play against Banks O' Dee in a Highland League rematch on Saturday.

Stewart said following Saturday's match: It was not a sending off. He's not touched the boy, he went over the top of his foot.

"I think they had 20 coaches on the bench and they all jumped up and shouted for a red card."

Jags will be gunning for revenge on Saturday, primarily to get the three points they need to keep their title challenge on track.

They are currently two points ahead at the top from Brechin City, who play their game in hand at Fraserburgh tonight.
