LIVE coverage of Huntly's first round Scottish Cup tie with Glasgow side Pollok has been pulled by the BBC.

The first round clash was due to be shown live on BBC Scotland at 7.30pm on Friday night, with coverage beginning 15 minutes earlier.

Huntly manager Allan Hale had spoken of the club's excitement at having the chance to showcase themselves, and the Highland League, to a live television audience.

However, the BBC announced yesterday in a short statement that the match will no longer be shown live.

A Tweet from BBC Scotland Comms said: "Due to an exceptional demand on our resources we are unable to provide live coverage of the Scottish Cup tie between Pollok v Huntly this Friday on BBC Scotland."

The call, which came two days before the match, will be frustrating for Huntly – whose players have taken a day off work to travel to Glasgow on the Friday. The club are also staying a night in Glasgow.

Had the game been on the Saturday, there would have been no time off required and no overnight plans.

Huntly FC have not made any official statement on the change of coverage.
