MACDUFF-BASED Andrew Barbour chalked up a third-place finish, just 0.02sec behind the winner, at the Brands Hatch round of the UK Time Attack Championship to maintain his challenge for the overall title.
Faced with wet conditions at the Kent circuit, Barbour and his pit crew arrived the day before the event and he chose not to run his Mitsubishi Evo 5RS in the Saturday set-up sessions.
“I took the decision not to run the car in the set-up test track time because it was so wet and there was a lot of standing water on the track,” said Barbour.
”I didn’t want to risk any damage to the car for Sunday.
“The morning of the race it was raining again, so I knew it was going to be a frustrating weekend.”
