DEVERONVALE remain the only side to have kept a clean sheet in the Highland League thus far as they defeated Strathspey in Grantown to move up to third in the table, giving new manager Charlie Charlesworth a good platform to build on.
Craig Morrison made it two in two starts when he opened the scoring after 27 minutes, while Scott Fraser and sub Kris Duncan cemented the 3-0 result with second-half counters to make it an enjoyable journey back home for the ’Vale players, officials and fans.
Beautiful sunshine welcomed the visitors for their first foray away from home this new season, with Charlesworth electing to change things around once more, with Connor Rennie, Magnus Barclay, Graeme Rodger, Craig Cowie and Jack Meldrum restored to the Banffers’ line-up.
Things got underway with Craig Rothney testing Darren McConnachie with a snap-shot as he picked up a pass from strike partner Matt Bobrowski at the edge of the box.
A diving header from Fraser Munro had the ’Vale faithful worried for a split second as it flashed the wrong side of the post following a Scott Hendry free kick as the Speysiders started brightly.
