10-nil win over Arbroath sets up East Fife clash for the Garioch/Turriff Ladies bowling team

Garioch/Turriff Ladies beat Arbroath at Stonehaven 10-0 on Saturday in Scottish K.O. Cup writes Mike Barron.
After beating Stonehaven 8-2 in first round, and Arbroath, they now meet the strong East Fife Ladies on February 10.
East Fife have shown their strength by beating neighbours Abbeyview 8-2 and Midlothian 7-3.
To win Garioch/Turriff will need to have a full team, and be at their best.
The match had all four rinks win but three had close matches.
G & T won 64-34
Arbroath’s Susan Christie was hit hard from the start. The G & T rink led by Angela Banks, Frances Thomson and Carla Banks were 13-1 up at 5th end, 20-3 at 10th and won well 26-6. 2 points to G & T.
Linda Harper was 1-5 down to Caroline Cruxton at 5th end, but by the 10th Sheila Reidford, and Glenys Bolt had some fine drawing and the rink drew level at 7-7.
From then Linda kept heads tight, and took the match to a 10-8 win. 4 points to G & T.
Carol Stuart (G &T) was also down 4-6 at 5th end. What a turn around by the 10th.
Joan Western and Alison Gillies were consistent, and drawing well on both hands helped Stuart lead 11-7.
The last ends were tight, but the trio kept drawing to win 13- 10. 6 points to G & T.
The 4th rink led by Elizabeth Fraser had both a pleasurable, but close match. 7-5 up at the 5th , 12-7 at 10th , and the last ends were shared. G & T came home 15-10. G & T now had 8 points.
They also were awarded 2 points for an overall win. Garioch/Turriff had 10 points to Arbroath’s 0.
Now for East Fife in February.
