The Ythan Singers are delighted to announce that they are able to return to live concerts once again, after the long pandemic.

As the group's Dr Hazel Wilkins explained: "The group were founded in 1980 but due to the pandemic they were not able to hold a concert in June 2020 as everything we loved about singing had to close.

"Whilst mathematically this is our 42nd year it is still only the 40th summer concert so we wish to celebrate this mile stone event by presenting a 40th Anniversary concert.

"The concert will open with the National Anthem as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years of reign, followed by John Rutter’s Anthem to Ukraine. "It also features a feast of well-known songs from shows and popular musicals, featuring songs such as New York, New York, West Side Story, Sound of Music as well as a Scottish selection and will be the premiere for a new version of The Lord’s my Shepherd written by Gordon Hay one of our choir members.

"The concert will be conducted by Morag Simpson.

"Morag cares passionately about fostering the love of music and singing and is a graduate of Aberdeen University and has further music qualifications from Northern College, Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.

"One of her ex vocal pupils is internationally acclaimed performer Emeli Sande from Alford.

"The choir will be accompanied by our accomplished pianist, Ashleigh Grant whose first summer concert would have been our 40th in 2020.

"The proceeds are for Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

"This concert is not to be missed, so please come along on Friday June 10 at 7.30pm to Ellon Parish Church and help us celebrate our 40th Anniversary.

"Tickets are priced £10, which includes an ice cream, and are available from choir members, at the door or email ythansingers@yahoo.co.uk."
