A three-day music festival next summer will include a DJ set from Happy Monday's legend Bez.

The Live by the Sea weekender takes place at the Lossiemouth Beach Hut next year on August 23-25, with tickets already on sale.

It is the third event of its kind to be held at the coastal venue, organised by Moray promoter Scott Divers and Aberdeen DJ Ed Fennell.

The duo are promising more big names and bigger events to come to Moray, also providing a platform for local bands and DJs to showcase their talents.

Star name next year, Bez (59) - real name Mark Berry - shot to fame as the Manchester indie band's maraca player and dancer, performing on hits like 'Step On', 'Hallelujah', 'Loose Fit' and 'Kinky Afro' during the 1990s.

He joined band members including singer Shaun Ryder in forming spin-off band Black Grape, won Celebrity Big Brother in 2005 and began DJing at clubs and festivals.

His appearance comes on the Friday night, with DJ Andy Smith, who worked on acclaimed nineties band Portishead's first two albums, confirmed to do a set on the final day of the event.

Kyle Falconer, front man with Scottish Indie rockers The View, headlined the first two Live by the Sea events in Lossiemouth this year.

"We organised the first event with only seven weeks notice," Divers said. "However the feedback we received during and after the weekend from so many people saying how much they enjoyed not just the music, but the venue, the setting and the overall friendliness of the crowd.

"From that point on we knew we had to do it again.

"However we want to grow and improve on what was done previously and that is exactly what is happening for next year's festival, with an extended three-day event bringing bigger acts and world renowned DJs to achieve our initial objective of them sharing the stage stage with local talent."

Described as "one of dance music's premier technical wizards", UK techno DJ James Zabiela will perform on the Saturday along with Glasgow-born DJ and producer Gary Beck.

Already confirmed for that day are John O' Groats four-piece indie band Neon Waltz, and The Clashed - a top-rated tribute band of punk legends The Clash.
