A group of young traditional musicians from across Moray have been performing at the Scots Fiddle Festival

The Arc Fiddlers, who are all aged between 12 and 17, rehearse every second week under the guidance of Mhairi Marwick.

Previously they've played at a variety of local events, including Speyfest and Abbie’s Sparkle Ceilidh at Elgin Town Hall.

However, a fortnight ago the 22 musicians ventured down to Edinburgh to play at the festival, before travelling on to Stirling Castle where they performed for over a hundred tourists.

Mhairi, who's a professional musician, said: "I remember when I was their age being taught by the amazing late great James Alexander and being part of the Fochabers Fiddlers.

"James gave us so many incredible performance opportunities with the Fochabers Fiddlers which was so inspiring for me.

"Music is such a wonderful gift for those who play and those who listen.

"We’re very fortunate to be part of a very vibrant folk scene here in Scotland.

"It’s so important that young people have these opportunities to experience performing and have memories that will last forever."
