North East Open Studios, also known as NEOS, returns this weekend for a nine-day festival celebrating local talent.

Artists and makers from Montrose to Forres will open their doors from September 10-18 to let the public see what happens behind the scenes and learn more about how their pieces are created.

This year 288 creators have signed up to be part of the event, including painters, photographers, illustrators, ceramicists, glass artists, jewellery makers, wood workers and sculptors as well as many other creative mediums.

Some highlights for ceramics fans include The Great Pottery Throw Down 2021 finalist Suz Macinnes who is opening her Fyvie studio and The Great Pottery Throw Down 2022 winner AJ Simpson who is showing at Deemouth Artist Studios in Aberdeen.

This will be AJ's first time participating in NEOS.

A number of venues will be hosting multiple creatives, including Haddo House, Crathes Castle, Mill Farm Studio, Durn Hill Farm, Bennachie Visitor Centre and Grant Arms Hotel.

Venues are marked with yellow signs, which have become synonymous with the event.

Catalogues outlining everything you need to know about this year's event are available in various locations, or alternatively you can check out www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk.
