Council planners have said I do to plans for a new wedding venue at House of Schivas, which will see the conversion of an existing steading to a new two-storey facility.

A POPULAR north-east wedding venue is set for a major expansion next year after being granted permission for the conversion of a steading into a new facility.

The House of Schivas at Ythanbank has already been on many couples hit list for venues of choice, but has until now lacked a large enough enclosed facility.

Following consultation with Aberdeenshire Council, plans were taken forward for the conversion of an existing steading building on the estate.

As owner Nicola Baird said: "We can't wait to welcome everyone to the Schivas Steading which is set to open in June 2020 for weddings and events.

"The Schivas Steading, complete with a unique courtyard offers two amazing spaces for ceremonies, meals and evening reception.

"With two floors, a striking glass window and glass roof section the steading will offer a capacity of 150 for the day and up to 200 guests who can dance away in the evening with majestic views over the Aberdeenshire countryside.

"With estate activities managed by Ythan Field Sports and an indoor heated pool to enjoy an extended experience awaits couples and families next year."
