Weather warning prompts Aberdeenshire School closures
Heavy snow which is forecast for Friday across the north-east has lead to a decision by Aberdeenshire Council to issue a closure notice for a number of schools this evening.
The following schools are currently closed or have school transport changes.
Aboyne Academy - School Closed to Pupils Only (Aboyne Academy will be closed to all pupils and teaching staff on Friday, February 18due to the forecast for heavy snowfall. Pupils should access online learning tasks via GLOW. Support Staff (Janitors and Technicians) will be expected to attend only where safe to do so.
Aboyne Primary School - School Closed to everyone
Alford Academy - School Closed to Everyone - Due to the forecast for heavy snowfall from 7am to 6pm on Friday 18, Alford Academy will be closed to staff and pupils. Pupils are expected to check their Google Classroom to access the work that teachers will post. Please see the groupcall message to parents for additional information.
Alford Primary School - School Closed to everyone
Banchory Academy - School Closed to Pupils Only (Banchory Academy will be closed to pupils on Friday 18 due to forecast adverse weather. Online learning will be provided via Teams. Support Staff (Janitors and Technicians) will be expected to attend as normal where safe to do so.
Drumblade Primary School - School Closed to everyone
Kemnay Academy - School Closed to everyone. Pupils should access class TEAMS for online activities. Teachers will provide details for learning/consolidation on TEAMS page.
Gordon Primary School - School Closed to Everyone Friday 18 due to an amber weather warning and a continued forecast of 30cm of snow and significant wind. Remote learning will be on offer if technology permits.
Gordon Schools (The) - School Closed to Everyone on Friday 18 to all due to the forecast adverse weather. Pupils should logon to Glow to access on line learning.
Mintlaw Academy - School Closed to Pupils Only. College transport will be cancelled and college pupils should log into their school subject Teams. Pupils should access online materials via Teams.
Rhynie School - School Closed to Everyone
Towie School - School Closed to Everyone - Due to the forecast for heavy snowfall from 7am to 6pm on Friday 18,Towie School and Nursery will be closed to staff and pupils. Pupils are expected to check their Google Classroom through Glow to access the work that teachers will post. A groupcall message will be sent to parents with additional information about face to face sessions.
Turriff Academy - School Closed to Pupils Only - Due to the forecast for heavy snow tomorrow from 7am until late afternoon the decision has been made to close the school tomorrow - Friday 18 for pupils, The building will be open from 8am until 3.30pm for staff if it is safe to travel. Pupils should log on to Teams through GLOW if power and internet allows. College transport has been cancelled and college pupils should log into their school subject Teams. Senior pupils should also access resources on Scholar as well as their subject Teams.
Westhill Academy - School Closed to Everyone - Due to the forecast for heavy snowfall throughout the day, Westhill Academy will be closed on Friday 18 to all pupils and staff. Pupils should access online materials via class Teams and/or Faculty Glow pages. Where possible, teachers will upload tasks throughout the day, but this may be affected by their own potential connectivity issues.
