Weather: Met Office issues warning for snow and ice in the north-east

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow, starting from 6pm today until midnight.

A snow and ice yellow warning continues into Monday and Tuesday.

Spells of snow will develop over mainland Scotland in areas above 200 m or so this evening.

Further north, spells of snow will develop to low levels this evening.

By late evening 2-5 cm snow may have fallen in some places.

What to expect-

• There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

• There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

• A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

• There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
