Great Britain XVI departs from Elgin station as it heads round the UK

Crowds gathered in Elgin on Thursday morning to see the Great Britain XVI on its rail tour of the country.

Hauled by two steam locomotives, 44871 and 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’, with a class 47 locomotive at the rear the tour has been making its way around the country having stopped in Inverness on Tuesday and is now heading on its way to Edinburgh via Aberdeen.

The journey started on Saturday when it departed from London Victoria to Cheltenham via Kent and Oxford making its way to Inverness and will finish back at London Paddington on Sunday.
