Police are appealing for information following the theft of two John Deere ‘StarFire’ GPS tracking systems fitted to two John Deere tractors in South Aberdeenshire.

The thefts occurred from a farm near Inverbervie between 9.45 pm on Sunday, August 27 and 06.30 am on Monday, 28.

North East Crime Reduction Officer PC Richard Russel said: "Organised criminal gangs will travel across the UK and our local countryside for theft opportunities.

"Be extra vigilant and remove and lock away GPS Systems, screens and other valuables when not in use.

"Vehicles should be housed in a lockable garage or building, ideally with security lighting installed on the perimeter.

"Vehicles should always be locked when not in use, with the keys locked away in a secure location.

" Keep recordings or photographs of serial numbers and vehicles, as these can be crucial in recovery, should the worst happen.

"Activate PIN security on systems and use security marking kits on your machinery.

"Consider fitting a CCTV system covering vehicles and machinery that sends alerts to several mobile devices should movement be detected. Report any sightings of suspicious activity in fields or farmyards to the Police."

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting reference PS-20230828-1198 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
