Police are requesting those working in rural areas remain vigilant following the theft of 800 litres of red diesel, nine padlocks, 20 litres of chain oil, six LED spotlights, a pollution kit, John Deere tool kit, set of spanners and a fire extinguisher valued at over £3000 from a forestry site near Aboyne.

Anyone with information can contact the Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 0709 of 12/09/2022.

North East Division Crime Reduction Officer Constable Urquhart said ‘If working in remote areas ensure all tools and fuel are locked away out of sight in secure storage units.

"Ensure all doors are of solid construction with suitable locks or a closed shackle padlock fitted. Consider using 4G CCTV cameras to monitor remote sites and be alerted to any intruders.’
