Kemnay Tuesday centre group welcomes Ukulele group 'The Strumbels'

THE Strumbels, a lively band of Ukulele players and singers, put on a a rock 'n' roll themed show for members of Kemnay's Tuesday centre group recently.

The band had members tapping their shoes along with the music at this week's meeting of the group in the Friendship room at Kemnay Village Hall.

The Strumbels, joined by the Kemnay Ukes, are an unusual group that are quickly gaining popularity at venues across the north east.

They happily respond to requests for all sorts of music including contemporary, sixties classics and old Scottish favourites.

Zena McAllister, leader of the band, said:"We are invited to play most Wednesday afternoons at the Burnett Arms lounge and at many venues, especially sheltered housing and care homes.

"I'm happy to ssy we seem to appeal to a wide age range."

The 20 strong band prefer the Ukulele for its versatility.

Vote of thanks was given by Anne Brown.

The Tuesday centre's next meeting is on November 1 for a 'crafty' afternoon.
