Two new cases of coronavirus in Moray

TWO new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray overnight.

A total of 72 cases of covid-19 have now been confirmed in the area since the outbreak began.

NHS Grampian confirmed six new confirmed cases of the virus overnight. That's the lowest number of new cases Grampian-wide since April 7.

There are now 1206 confirmed cases across the NHS Grampian health board.

According to Scottish Government figures, Aberdeenshire has 418 confirmed cases – one less than yesterday's total. Aberdeen City has 702, up five.

Highland council has 191 cases.

At midnight, there were 84 people in Grampian hospitals with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, with six in intensive care.

Scotland-wide, the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus and died within 28 days is now 2134. That is an increase of 29 deaths overnight.

A total of 90,421 people have been tested for the virus in Scotland, with 75,766 negative and 14,655 positive. The number of patients discharged from hospital is 3408.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon yesterday announced a "phased approach" to beginning to ease Scotland's lockdown will be published on Thursday. The date mentioned for the easing of restrictions is May 28.

For now, the message remains: Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.
