An ultra-runner from Turriff is set to take on a 24-hour endurance challenge this summer at the Haughs in Turriff in aid of the Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow.
Having previously taken part in ultra runs including last year's West Highland Way race, Gary Conn was looking for a challenge in an effort to raise funds for a charity which has helped family members.
He explained: "Ronald McDonald House Glasgow provides a home away from home for families of sick kids in Glasgow Hospital, something my sister and partner was able to benefit from when my nephew was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
"Thankfully he has recovered well but I know many other local families will need to rely on the services of the charity."
He continued: "I am a keen ultra runner and have done a few big runs over the last couple years.
"Unfortunately this year I didn’t get an entry into the West Highland Way race, however I came up with an idea to do a charity run on the same weekend.
"I decided on running a loop of the Turriff Show-ground (0.75 mile) for 24 hours, I thought this would be a good idea as people could come down and join me for a lap or two to keep my spirits up.
"Unlike the other races I’ve done, this run will be me against my own mind and I hope people can appreciate that if they decide to sponsor me.
"The charity is an important one to our family as I’m sure it is to many others.
"If people would like to sponsor me they can go onto www.justgiving.com and search for Gary Conn to find the page.
If anyone would like to join me on the day for a lap or two then feel free.
"I will be running from 4pm on June 21 until 4pm on the 22."
