The 2022 Turriff Show Ladies Day committee have said they are "delighted" to confirm this week that the total amount raised for local causes by their event on July 24 is an astounding £22500.

Clan Cancer Support Turriff Outreach , Homestart Deveron and Turriff and District Agricultural Association will each receive £7500 to help them further their work which benefits the whole local community .

At a time when costs are spiralling for all charitable organisations this injection of funds will be very welcome .

Both Clan Cancer Support and Homestart will be using the funds to re-establish and grow their services in Turriff over the months to come and the money raised for TDAA is earmarked to go towards two projects.

The first of these will be the installation of a publicly accessible defibrillator in the Show ground itself which will be of benefit for the entire community using the Haughs.

Funds will also be used towards the further upgrading of facilities for the Show, with some of the money going towards the provision of new picnic bench seating around the show-ring for future events.

These came from a move to make the seating more family orientated and were well received by visitors this year.

Commenting on behalf of the committee, Gill Gaul said: "We have been totally overwhelmed by the success of the day and the feedback we have received from everyone lucky enough to attend thesold out event .

"We are indebted to our Main Event Sponsor , Annie Kenyon from AKA/ AKD as well as the sponsorship from The Strachan Family at Bridgend Aggregates and James and Laura Hall at JHJ Group.

"The final amount raised for charity surpassed all of our expectations and we are truly grateful for the support of all the businesses, whether local to Turriff or from further afield , who helped our event in any way through donation of some fantastic auction prizes and raffle prizes and sponsoring fundraising games.

"We are also very grateful to those who also helped in terms of time volunteered to help us with the set up of the event, but most of all to the 300 ladies who attended the event and dug deep to help us raise this record breaking amount."
