Jubilee celebrations in Turriff are set to begin this weekend with a Thanksgiving Service.

Local celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee begin this Sunday, May 29 at 6pm with a Service of Thanksgiving at St Ninian’s & Forglen Church in Turriff.

Leading the service will be Rev Steve Potts, minister of Aucherless and Auchaber, with the singing of the Queen’s favourite hymns led by a praise band and choir of people from local churches.

The service will also be livestreamed, and then available as a video, on St Ninian’s and Forglen Church’s YouTube channel.

Organised by Buchan Presbytery of the Church of Scotland, the service is very much a community event open to everyone.

It will bring together people from across the Banff & Buchan area including churches, representatives from voluntary organisations of which the Queen is patron, and individuals and families wishing to give thanks for the Queen, her life, her faith and her service to the nation and the Commonwealth.

Her Majesty will be represented by the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire, and Vice-Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire.
