The annual Turriff Bothy Ballad Competition - organised by Turriff And District Pipe Band - welcomed eight entertainers vying for the chance to walk away with the Haughs Cup and a chance to compete for the Champion Of Champions title in Elgin, as well as two junior competitors.

The event opened with a short display by the junior members of Turriff And District Pipe Band and was compered throughout by Allan Stephen who punctuated the competition with entertaining stories and wit.

Competitors perform once in each half however only their performance in the second half is graded by the judge.

It was a difficult job for judge Sandy Stronach, but in the end he named Geordie Murison from Netherley, who sang The Turra Coo, as the winner.
