Joint secretary Louise McLean said: “Our adjudicator, Margaret Robertson did a sterling job and was very impressed with the high standard of playing throughout the entire day.”

Martin Birse (Elgin Rotary President) presented the Rotary Club medals to the 9yrs and under and 10-12yrs classes and he returned in the afternoon to present the Rotary Shield to Bronagh Gillies – the competitor in the 13-16yrs class who scored the highest marks as a resident of Moray.

“We are always very grateful for the continued support we get from Rotary Elgin,” added Mrs McLean.

An evening concert featured four orchestras competing – Aberdeen being the winners.

The festival included a tribute to James Alexander who founded Speyfest.
