Trial continues into Elgin cop's alleged sexual assault in Keith Police Station

POLICE officer Kyle Mackinnon's trial continued at Elgin Sheriff Court today (February 27).

Mackinnon previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexually assaulting a woman at Keith Police Station by seizing her by the body and attempting to kiss her.

He has also pleaded not guilty to a charge of sending "sexual and indecent" pictures as well as a charge of sending sexual messages, via Snapchat, to the same woman without her consent.

Defending Mackinnon was Mark Stewart KC, while fiscal depute Sharon Ralph was prosecuting.

Mr Stewart and Ms Ralph cross-examined witnesses including PC Lewis Appleton, a probationer officer Mackinnon was tutoring at the time of some of the alleged offences.

The case was adjourned for the preparation of further evidence.

Mackinnon will appear again on April 17.
