Tipperty Primary School which is located at Tipperty, off the A90 near Ellon’s head teacher Claire-Anne Buchan said: “We are delighted to share the news that we have been awarded our 8th Green Flag Award at Tipperty School! This is a fantastic achievement and Tipperty School is one of only a small group of schools to achieve this milestone. The panel were most impressed at the range of Eco – related activities the children had been working on in school which include Gardening, Eco group, Climate Smarter programme and the John Muir Award. The high level of pupil engagement in all activities was also noted. Many thanks to all the garden volunteers who continue to support work in the school garden.”

She added: “Most importantly well done to all the pupils of Tipperty School who have contributed to this work over the past two years: Well Done Team Tipperty!”.

Through the Eco-Schools Scotland programme, Keep Scotland Beautiful aims to make action to tackle climate change and environmental awareness an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of schools, for both pupils and for staff. The programme provides a framework to engage the wider school community in climate action aligned with the purposes of Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability.

To complete the Green Flag journey each school has a choice of topics to engage with and must show continued progress when renewing.
