Tin Hut Tea at Gartly Hall supporting breast cancer charity

AN event at Gartly Hall next Sunday (August 13) will support a breast cancer charity which helps those impacted "every step of the way."
The Gartly Community Association (GCA) is aiming to raise £250 for Breast Cancer Now by hosting an afternoon tea.
Part of its Tin Hut Teas series, the tea and cakes event is set to be "an afternoon of community and compassion", according to GCA secretary Lynn Rutter.
The afternoon tea will take place between 3pm and 5pm and tickets will be £3 on the door.
"Our next event is a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now, which is being held as part of their national Afternoon Tea campaign," Ms Rutter said.
"Breast Cancer Now is a research and support charity.
"Every 10 minutes someone in the UK hears the words: 'You have breast cancer'.
"So we're hoping to raise at least £250, which will pay for a day of research or for eight people to be able to speak to a specialist team through a free and confidential helpline.
"We hope to see as many as possible at the party but, for those who want to donate but can't come along, you can also support our JustGiving page."
The upcoming event will continue the organisation's streak of successful fundraising events in the area.
On Saturday, July 29, Gartly came together for Coffee for a Cause at the Tin Hut, which raised £320.
The event was organized to raise funds for the Networks of Wellbeing and Gartly Community Association, to help create a quiet seating area at the Tin Hut.
In total, 70 community members young and old attended, enjoying the coffee and community-baked cakes on offer.
Huntly Herbs hosted a stall at Coffee for a Cause, with jam pot selection boxes and local rose bay willow herb honey enjoyed by attendees.
Ms Rutter said: "These funds will undoubtedly go a long way in supporting the essential work carried out by both organizations.
"Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, contributed, and volunteered to make the event a resounding success.
"It is the dedication and support of such a compassionate community that allows these charities to continue their vital work, bringing positive change to the lives of those in need.
"We're keen for the newly refurbished hall to be used to the full and to have a lot of different events."
The organisation has a range of events planned throughout August and September.
