ALMOST three quarters of Moray's adults have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, after the area's vaccination programme was ramped up last week.

People aged 18 plus are now receiving invitations for a jab due to Moray's high Covid-19 rate, with 10 per cent of the area's adult population having been given their first dose of a vaccine in the last week alone.

That amounts to 7414 first jabs in just seven days, taking the number of adults in Moray who have received at least one jab to 59,014 (74.1 per cent of the area's adult population).

Meanwhile, the number of second jabs given out has fallen on the week prior, with 615 adults across the area receiving their second dose of a vaccine in the last week compared to 5305 the week prior.

A total of 27,436 Moray adults have received both doses of a vaccine, which amounts to 34.4 per cent of the adult population.

Moray's numbers have boosted even further ahead of the national average, with 64.9 per cent of adults (2,948,604 people) across Scotland having received their first jab and 33.6 per cent (1,526,889 people) having received both.

Across the NHS Grampian health board region, 67.3 per cent of the adult population (326,334 people) have received a first dose, with 31.5 per cent of adults (152,821 people) having been fully vaccinated.
