Statistics released by Public Health Scotland show that 29 Moray residents have now died after a positive coronavirus test, up three on the 26 deaths confirmed last week.

Meanwhile, eight Moray residents have died and had Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate – taking the area's death total to 37.

In the last week, 36 people tested positive for the virus across the area – taking the total number of cases confirmed in Moray to 1237.

This represents a reduction of a third on the 54 positive cases confirmed in last week's update, with only a slight fall in the number of tests taken.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 13,517 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 132 on the 13,385 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood area update

More than a third of the cases confirmed in Moray between February 22 and February 28 were located in Lossiemouth, with 13 in the town (Lossiemouth West 10; Lossiemouth East and Seatown 3).

In previous weeks, the Keith and Fife Keith 'neighbourhood area' has been a hotspot – but the problem in the town is dying down, according to the numbers, with three cases confirmed in this update compared to 25 last week.

Only two other areas in Moray recorded three or more cases of Covid-19, Elgin East had six and Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward had four.

The remaining cases are spread across the area – however, an area will only show on the map if at least three cases have been confirmed.
