Three in court over alleged assault and robbery at Portknockie Spar shop

TWO men and a woman have appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court following an alleged assault and robbery at a Moray village shop.

Last Thursday, January 21, Police Scotland issued a statement confirming that officers were called to a Spar shop, in Portknockie's Church Street, at about 5.30pm after receiving calls about a reported theft.

The shop was closed to allow officers to make inquiries but was open again to customers the following day.

A police spokeswoman said two men and a woman had been charged following their investigation.

She said: "At about 5.30pm on Thursday, we received a report of a robbery at a premises on Church Street, Portknockie.

"Nobody was injured during the incident.

"Two men, aged 29 and 36, and a 25-year-old woman have been arrested and charged in connection and are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday."

Today, Ellie-May Devlin, from Buckie, made no plea to accusations of theft by shoplifting and assault and robbery.

Jamie Mellon, also known as Easson, a 36-year-old from Aberdeen, made no plea to similar charges.

Paul Mellon, from Buckie, made no plea to charges of theft by shoplifting, assault and robbery, careless driving and two other road traffic offences.

All three were committed for further examination and released on bail.
