Netflix has announced that series five of The Crown will air from Wednesday, November 9 onwards.

Local interest in the show was stoked during August last year when filming took place in Macduff and at Covesea Lighthouse near Lossiemouth.

Permission was also granted to shoot several scenes at Balmoral.

The drama has so far proved a huge hit both with critics and the viewers.

The new series will cover the breakdown of Charles' first marriage as well as the death of Diana.

Imelda Staunton is stepping into the late monarch's shoes, taking over the role from Clare Foy who received numerous plaudits for her portrayal of the younger Queen Elizabeth II.
