Last week saw a special anniversary for husband and wife Norman and Anne Duguid (nee Barron) who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

The couple met at Fyvie Primary School when Anne moved into the area aged 10 from Fintray near Newmacher and they grew up as neighbours on the respective farms of Gordontown of Seggat and Upper Bogtama near Auchterless.

Married at Fyvie Parish Church on July 27, 1963, a year after Norman’s family took over Breedless Farm in Dunlugas their oldest son Ian now lives on the farm and the couple have lived in Turriff since 2012.

Not quite fully retired, Norman still goes out to the farm most days while Anne has worked as a SEN Child Passenger Assistant, having previously worked as a Kitchen Assistnat at Chalmers Hospital in Banff.

On the day of their anniversary, Norman and Anne were fortunate to be accompanied by their whole wedding party; Best Man and Norman’s elder brother, (James) Allan Duguid; Bridesmaid Joyce Marshall (nee Buchan) and Flower Girl, Anne’s niece, Ann McKinney (nee Cheyne), at a reconstruction of their line-up outside Fyvie Parish.
