Tickets are now on sale for the sci-fi festival, which has been developed by Scottish horror events company, Northern Frights.

The event, that will see the centre’s exhibition space filled with thrilling new exhibits, games and activities inspired by the public’s favourite sci-fi movies, TV shows, comics and books, will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 9am-5pm.

Pausing its usual programme of activities for the day, Aberdeen Science Centre will host a variety of sci-fi themed shows, including the Science Magic Show, which will explore the relationship between science and magic, alongside showcasing family-friendly interactive science experiments.

Attendees can also be transported into other worlds through virtual reality technology demonstrations.

Sci-fi enthusiasts can also take part in themed quizzes, challenges, scavenger hunts, tabletop adventures and a special alien attack Nerf game.

There will also be special treats in store for the cosplayers out there who will have the opportunity to attend the event while dressed as their favourite characters, pose for photos with likeminded visitors to the centre and view props plucked straight from the small and silver screen.

The best, and most creatively dressed attendees will also be in with a chance of winning exciting prizes.

Elaine Holland, operations manager at Aberdeen Science Centre said: “Aberdeen Science-Fiction Day is sure to be a treat for all the sci-fi fans out there.

"We will be hosting a Tardis-full of fun activities, games and challenges, inspired by our favourite sci-fi films and TV shows.

“Northern Frights has been a fantastic event partner, and we are over the moon to be hosting an event such as this. Science fiction has inspired many careers in real-world science, and we hope to fully embrace the sci-fi community with this event. Head down to our centre with your ticket on 11th November at warp speed for a day you won’t soon forget!”

Laura Ripley, owner of Northern Frights, said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Aberdeen Science Centre for this exhilarating event.

"The fusion of science fiction with real-world science creates a captivating experience, enabling attendees to explore the infinite possibilities that lie at the intersection of imagination and reality. "We believe that Aberdeen Science-Fiction Day will not only entertain but inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and dreamers.”

During the event, Aberdeen Science Centre will be closed to the general public.
