The live online auction, featuring an entry of more than 1245 lots, saw the highest sales rate of the year at over 88 per cent.

Mark Barrack, head of Thainstone Specialist Auctions, said: “Looking back on the year, despite having to change our entire sales schedule due to Covid, we have adapted to an online only format to comply with Government guidance and this has been incredibly successful, attracting buyers from all over the UK and Europe.

The top selling lots included a 2020 VW Transporter T30 Van Highline which sold for £30,500 within the light commercials and 4x4 category, followed by a 2013 JCB 536-60 Farm Spec Telescopic Handler from the tractors, telehandlers and plant equipment section selling for £21,500.

The small plant category saw a Genie Z45 Cherry Picker sell for £5900 and the implement and machinery section saw a Marshall 2000 Litre Slurry Tanker go for £6900.

Within the heavy commercials section, a 2005 Renault Kerax 370-33 Cement Mixer achieved £6000 and a Smart Pick Static Self-Contained Welfare Unit sold for £9000 within the trailers and containers category.

A successful timed auction of builder’s equipment was also held.

Mark continued: “Online bidders were again enthusiastic throughout this sale and good prices were achieved all round, with light commercials and 4x4 section preforming particularly well.

"Our next sale takes place on January 20, and we would encourage customers who are looking to realise fair value for their assets to contact any member of our highly experienced team on 01467 623770.

"Entries will be accepted from Monday, January 11.”
